So the song "it never rains in southern California" is rephrased as "today it rained in southern California." Just kidding, I love the rain and it is nice to get a city wash down and cleansing every now and then.
It is ironic that we planned a BBQ for tomorrow at a recreation center, and invited about 20-something students, staff and faculty to attend. In addition, some community folks too.
Today, I am stumbling upon my thoughts of where I was last year. I was thinking about what I did, this time, last year and honestly, it is a blur. Was I that busy or oblivious of time? Or is my memory that bad? The only consolation to my lack of memory, is that this time next, I hope to be closer to finishing my graduate program and moving on from this student roller coaster. TO what, I have NO clue! I have never been one to plan much anyway, and as the gods, spirits, and my ancestors have it...I am always in the "right" place and in a space that feels comfortable, maybe ambivalent, but spiritually good to be in. My friends always tease me that I must have the best luck in the world. Yes, luck is great, but mostly I think timing and alignment of the worlds are in sync! Wish me luck!

Beginnings
Writing has been a slow & somewhat distance process for me. I started a blog about 2 years ago when I took a creative nonfiction course (and loved it). However, I never followed through or continued this ongoing conversation, and so the writing blogs stopped. So fast forward to 2011, and I hope this time I will find a new relationship with writing a blog and enjoying it. The paradox is, I grew up writing in journals and cheesy diaries with small locks that can be picked by a bobby-pin. Alice S.'s blog inspired me to try this again. Thanks.
